A new project called Flight Mechanics will be releasing an EP titled "Formed Light" on 11/29/11. This EP, produced collaboratively by Sheboygan's Paul Duquesnoy (who produces under the Boost moniker) and Sean Behling (who produces under the Seakn moniker) was made over the course of 2011 and features 4 arrangements based on material recorded on a snow day last January. Falling in the vein of idm, this project recalls late 90s Warp productions but adds a touch of midwest earnestness. Born of the cold and snow, we hope this project will warm you up as it features a foundation of home made samples and organic sounds that give it a strong indie vibe that serves to separate it from a lot of today's electronic releases.

In addition to the sounds this release will be available as a in physical form in a somewhat unique package where the artwork, photography by Paul, will be available as a limited series of 11x14 prints that accompanies a CDR and digital download. The initial run will be limited to 30 prints, information about purchase will be provided at the time of the release. A preview of the artwork has been stitched together in a video for the first track, "Friction Coefficient," in what Paul describe as a "microscope simulation." Please enjoy and share with friends!

Wesley Tank, Antler Antennas vocalist, released a solo effort on Friday titled "Painghosty Dreamlaughs." Wes writes, "Painghosty Dreamlaughs" is about at least four things. 1. Exorcizing the leftover ailments of long lost lovematic twist ties sealing off plastic knapsacks of birdblood and forty oz. bottles of mint water. 2. Letting go of dusty old apparitions by pulling apart flowerpillows pedal by pedal until the skin is clean green as chromakey pure, backlit by cascades of candles. 3. Light slicing through horizon stripes like kites causing eclipse collisions of cylindrical ellipses. 4. The different kinds of organically malleable laughtracks that permeate wildly through the hilarity of one's own firehosing sense of of directional trajectory."

This release features Wes working with a number of different producers including Antler Antennas' Seakn (Sean Behling), Kipp Zavada, and Wadadli (Dan Reed). Download from Wes's Bandcamp Page

Learned of some really sad news today regarding someone I consider a member of my musical family named Bennett Hiner. I met Bennett and started playing with him in 2009 thanks to my great friends and neighbors Matt and Hannah. When I first heard Bennett play his 5 sting bass I was completely blown away! Here was a musician that not only had theory and chops bursting out of his finger tips, but here was a complete person full of joy and a passion for music, life and helping others as his long term goals and education had him pointed at being a doctor. During the few months that Bennett was living in the Milwaukee/Chicago area, and the all too brief time that I got to know him, he played alongside Seth Warren-Crow and Erik Molstad and myself as 'The Folding Line,' which had originally started as a trio with just Erik, Seth and myself. The addition of Bennett to this equation was an instant joy, and its with much sadness today that I learned of his passing. Too young, too talented, too full of life and compassion for us to have lost this one at such a young age. While our time together on this plane was brief, I'll always remember it with fondness and joy that come from these opportunities that music gives us to engage in what I consider one of the purest forms of experience and communication. Jazz. With that I offer up for anyone who wishes to know the small piece of Bennett that I had come to know through music, a moment in time we captured through some audio recordings. Included here are a couple studio tracks and recordings from the one live show we did together as a group in July of 2009 at Milwaukee's Bremen Cafe. Please enjoy the recording and share this with all who enjoy some jazz from the heart. Lastly, if you haven't already by now, please join me in sending most sincere condolences to Bennett's family. You are all in our hearts and prayers. Peace to you, Bennett, I'm sure you're hanging with the best at the jam session in the beyond. Download MP3s

Its been awhile in the making, but I guess I'd like to make it official and just say that Antler Antennas is going 'collective.' What does this mean exactly? Damned if I know, to be honest. What I hope is to leverage this site and our 'collective' energy into a vehicle to further promote and lift all of the creative projects undertaken by those involved. The creative output of the folks I've met in this project is damn incredible and inspiring to me, and as I hope we can continue to do more within the Antler idiom, I also think its sweet to celebrate all the other cool shit happening. So, that said, if you haven't already check out this sweet video Wesley produced for Sole. Footage was filmed in Madison during the Collective Bargaining Rights protests. Shit is rather haunting if you ask me. So, for now, that is all. Thanks to all who support. -Sean
